YOEC’s Chamber Music Program is open to current orchestra members in the second semester. It’s an amazing experience that allows students of all levels the wonderful opportunity to learn and perform chamber music repertoire. Ensembles are available for strings, woodwinds, brass and piano with an average of 3-5 students per group.
Unlike in the full orchestra, in chamber music each musician plays their unique part of the score without a conductor. Students who participate in this program further develop and improve their ensemble, solo and practice skills as well as achieving a high level of musical independence and performing confidence. Because chamber ensembles average 3-5 students per group, each coaching session is like a semi-private lesson.
Mary Ann Mumm, Chamber Music Director, brings together a faculty of outstanding musical educators and performers as well as musicians from the New Jersey Symphony and the MET Orchestra to direct the groups in 12 one-hour sessions and perform a concert at the end of the program.
Tuition for this wonderful musical opportunity for our students is offset by generous grants from both the Harry S. & Agnes M. Truzack Foundation and Amateur Chamber Music Players and the Clinton B. Ford Fund of its ACMP Foundation.
Rehearsals: Mondays, 5:45 – 6:45 p.m., January - April
Concerts: In April
Tuition for 2011-2012 is $120.
