Murray Colosimo

Mr. Colosimo, Canadian conductor, clarinetist and music educator, received his formal musical training in New York. A graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, Mr. Colosimo continued with doctoral studies at New York University. As a conductor, Mr. Colosimo has conducted some of the world’s greatest artists including Andre Watts, Grant Johannesen as well as such great jazz figures as Benny Golson, Art Farmer and Rufus Reid. He served as Music Director/Conductor of the Wayne Chamber Orchestra (NJ), the Ridgewood Symphony Orchestra, the Fair Lawn Arts Festival Orchestra and served as the guest conductor of the 2003 New Jersey All State Orchestra at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. Mr. Colosimo was recently invited to appear on the Distinguished Artist Series at Bergen Community College (NJ). A recognized music educator, Mr. Colosimo has held faculty positions at Montclair University, William Paterson University and served as the Music Supervisor/Director of Orchestras for the Ridgewood Public Schools (NJ) where a newly built campus center (Colosimo Center) was dedicated in his honor.
